KPK Introduces ‘Loyalty Points’ Program to Reward Repeat Offenders
KPK announces ‘Korupsi+’ loyalty program offering perks for repeat corruption offenders, including asset returns and elite appointments.
JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has launched its first-ever Loyalty Points Program for repeat corruption offenders. The initiative, dubbed "Korupsi+", promises exclusive perks to public officials who maintain consistency in getting arrested, reappointed, and re-arrested.
“We realized there’s a clear user journey here,” said a KPK spokesperson while updating the office’s redemption chart. “Some of these gentlemen have been with us for over a decade. They know the process, they never complain during investigations, and they always smile for the mugshot. We felt it was time to recognize that kind of brand loyalty.”
Under the program, officials earn one point per arrest, two if the scandal involves infrastructure funds, and bonus points if they wear batik and give an emotional press conference blaming "the system."
Perks include:
5 arrests: one-time asset return (no questions asked)
7 arrests: guaranteed BUMN commissioner slot in the next fiscal year
10 arrests: automatic appointment as Special Staff to a coordinating minister
“It’s like frequent flyer miles,” said one mid-level official. “Except I never actually go to jail.
Sources say the program is designed to reward what the commission calls “high-efficiency corruption actors.” These individuals are praised for their discipline in never stealing too loudly, always having a fallback role ready, and refusing to flee the country until after the second indictment.
One senior advisor, who asked to remain anonymous while applying for their own loyalty card, explained: “Indonesia has matured. We’re no longer punishing corruption, we’re managing it. These are seasoned professionals. They understand deliverables, deadlines, and discretion.”
The move has raised eyebrows internationally but received support from several party leaders who admit they “appreciate the clarity.”
“Better a corrupt official we know,” said one MP, “than a new one who asks too many questions.”
The KPK has confirmed that a "Golden Nephew" status is being developed for those who not only reoffend regularly but also come from influential dynasties. This status offers VIP treatment during interrogations, priority parking at the KPK headquarters, and a dedicated spokesperson to handle press narratives.
“We know corruption is a family affair,” the spokesperson added. “So why not treat it as such? Our Golden Nephews are the backbone of this ecosystem.”
Critics have slammed the program as absurd, but KPK leadership insists it’s a pragmatic shift. “We’ve tried naming and shaming. We’ve tried bans. We’ve tried sting operations. Nothing sticks. So this time, we’re trying customer retention.”
Early participants in the loyalty program have praised the initiative. “It feels good to be seen,” said one convicted former mayor currently serving as an expert staffer in the Ministry of Investment. “When you give your all to this country, it’s nice to finally be rewarded.”
