Trump Booed At Knicks Game, Claims Crowd Was Saying “Boo-ild The Wall”
Madison Square Garden erupts as Trump appears on the jumbotron, prompting him to declare the boos were actually a passionate wall-building chant.
NEW YORK, NY — President Donald Trump was met with a thunderous chorus of boos at Madison Square Garden during last night’s Knicks game, though Trump quickly clarified that the crowd was not booing him at all, but rather chanting the much more supportive phrase, “Boo-ild the wall.”
While some less imaginative observers claimed the arena had erupted in disapproval, Trump’s campaign team released a statement moments later insisting the crowd was actually chanting in favor of a major border-security construction initiative.
“Everyone heard it,” Trump told reporters. “They were saying, ‘Boo-ild the wall.’ Very beautiful chant. Maybe the most beautiful chant ever heard at Madison Square Garden. They love walls. They love builders. They love me. Frankly, they were begging me to build something right there in the arena.”
Reporters seated nearby initially interpreted the sound as ordinary booing, due to the fact that it sounded exactly like ordinary booing. However, Trump aides pushed back, arguing that the media had once again deliberately misheard an overwhelmingly positive crowd response.
“This is classic fake news,” said one senior adviser. “The dishonest media hears a building full of Americans chanting for border security and immediately reports it as booing. That tells you everything you need to know.”
Several fans interviewed after the game were surprised to learn they had participated in the chant.
“I was definitely booing,” said longtime Knicks fan Dominic Rinaldi, who added that he had not thought about the wall since 2019. “But if he wants to believe I said ‘Boo-ild,’ I guess that’s between him and his nachos.”
By the following morning, Trump’s campaign store had already released a new line of “BOO-ILD THE WALL” merchandise, including hats, T-shirts, and commemorative bricks.
The slogan quickly caught on among supporters, many of whom praised Trump’s ability to transform an awkward public moment into a fundraising opportunity before the Knicks had even finished the fourth quarter.
“This is why he’s a genius,” said one supporter outside the arena. “Other politicians get booed and feel embarrassed. Trump gets booed and turns it into a construction verb. That’s leadership.”
By afternoon, Trump had doubled down.
“Many people are now saying ‘Boo-ild’ is the new ‘MAGA,’” he posted. “Very strong phrase. Maybe we use it. Maybe we build a wall around Madison Square Garden to keep out the fake news. The Knicks would pay for it.”
At press time, Trump was reportedly planning to attend another Knicks game later in the series, where campaign officials said they expected an even louder and more enthusiastic crowd chant of “Boo-ild the wall,” especially if he appeared on the jumbotron during free throws.
